We did our now standard preparations for the wave event, and we were glad to see it followed the same pattern once again when it kicked off. The mandatory five waves would only get to level 6, which meant three more events before Wave 5 matched our current Level 9. Even with the enormous experience point requirement to get to Level 10, 60 more days would be more than enough to get past it. The lack of clearing around the house showed, though, because we just had an 8% reduction in the hit points for the waves. It was still better than I had expected. We did well enough to push through to make it one level further this time by getting to level 13. We wanted to get all the bonus levels we could while they were still within reach before our lack of leveling caught up to us.

We were still in good shape after the second wave of Level 9 alligators in wave 12, so after a quick break, we triggered wave 13 with 50 minutes left. This wave was just two Level 10 deer, which was better than our fear that we would get some snakes with deadly poison. Even without the poison, the battle was tough. It was obvious that the Level 10 jump boosted creatures too. While their hit points were not out of line, they had a lot more in the way of skills, which made them hard to kill and a lot more damaging.

With how hurt we were and how low on mana, we decided that wave 13 was enough and let the time run out on the wave instead of trying to take on four of them in wave 14. I was happy with my Thorn Shield and wanted to keep trying to level it up as soon as possible. It was pumping out a lot of damage and would be an enormous boost as it leveled. Todd also really liked the help keeping the creature’s attention when it was on him.

“Well, that was not too bad,” Todd said. “But if we are still Level 9 next time, then waves 11 and 12 will be Level 10 creatures, and we will probably have to skip at least wave 12.”

“At least this is almost as good as a day of training for skills,” Angie pointed out. “The double experience and skill points give us over 100 points in our main skill even if the others don’t get as much training.”

“That training is nice. I mean, it’s not a vast improvement yet, but if we can break into the uncommon on some of our skills and maybe get a few more skills, that would be cool. I have been talking to my trainer, and I may work on getting some more defensive skills. There is a way to get beat on to get a Thick Skin skill that would be nice, but there are no guarantees,” Todd said.

“We need to get some money and be able to buy skill books,” Sarah said.
